Robin and Rosemary Leaving Tea
Following Tennis, a celebratory tea was held for Rosemary and Robin, who have been key drivers of the success and growth of Helen's Bay Tennis Club over many years, who are leaving the area.
Rosemary and Robin would like to pass on their thanks for the beautiful engraved vase, the card and the excellent homemade tea by the members. A message from Rosemary and Robin: 'Helen’s Bay Tennis Club has been a much enjoyed part of our lives and we are going to miss it and the lovely friendly members very much and we wish everyone all the best for the future.’
Everyone at the club passes on their best wishes for the future in their new home and thanks them for all the hard work and dedication they have put into the club, at both a junior and senior level, and the local community.
End of August Round Robin
A fun round robin club tournament was held in early August. Andrew Dobbs emerged the worthy winner. Congratulations Andrew!
More HBTC Success!
Junior Helen’s Bay TC player, Harry Tipping, had a great win at the Nomadic Malahide Junior Open tennis tournament recently coming top out of 49 players to win the U14 boys tournament.
Harry is a stalwart of our U14 boys team and is trained by our Coach Andy Strain of North Down Tennis Academy. Well done Harry!
A New Season at Helen’s Bay
With the brighter evenings, we are restarting the Wednesday evening Club sessions from 6pm, and the Saturday afternoons continue from 2pm. The junior matches will start after Easter, so the club will be busy.
Adults thinking of joining the club would be very welcome to come and join us at one of the club sessions.
Former HBTC player
Sadly, former HBTC player James Russell passed away a few weeks after celebrating his 100th birthday. James was an energetic player who enjoyed playing into his 90s and was well known for being ambidextrous, hitting forehands on both his left and right sides.
Sadly, James passed away on 13 January following a long, happy and fulfilled life.
