The 2021 Tennis Ireland Seniors Interprovincial Championships, Limerick

Helen’s Bay Tennis Club member Rosemary Masefield was part of the Ulster Senior Interprovincial team which played in Limerick over the weekend of 13/14 November. Playing for the ladies 60+ Rosemary and her doubles partner, Kathryn Fleming from the Boat Club, enjoyed close and competitive matches winning v Connacht.

A few weeks earlier Rosemary had also played in the Super Seniors Interprovincial Championships in Belfast in the Ladies 65+ category but this time she and her partner, Alison Nesbitt from Bangor Tennis Club, were asked to play for Connacht who were short of players. After a year of not many competitive matches all players greatly enjoyed the opportunity and camaraderie afforded by the championships.

Michael puts his tennis on ice for now!

Michael Heaslip had been at Helen’s Bay for over 8 years during which times our juniors have had great fun and our teams some great successes, including the Girls U14 team winning the Challenge Trophy in 2014.

We wish Michael very well in his future business activities and a HUGE HBTC THANK-YOU for everything during this period and for being a huge part of the club and its development during that time. Happy memories include the Ice Bucket Challenge and we'll be sure to welcome you back to the club when time allows in the coming years!

Good news at last! The tennis courts at Helen’s Bay will be opening on 8th April in line with Ards and North Down Council Covid-19 lockdown procedures.

**UPDATE** The club is now able to play doubles as usual and club afternoons on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings which have already proved very popular.

NOTE: Covid restrictions are still in force with hand sanitising and social distancing and the clubhouse is not open.

HBTC members recently enjoyed a 'Goulash' tournament where they played with pot luck partners. The tournament was won by Caitriona and the photo shows some of the players and the runners-up displaying their HBTC pens!
