First Round-Robin Tournament of 2024

Saturday 08 June saw senior club members enjoy the first round-robin tournament of 2024, played in bright but breezy conditions. Members played a minimum of four short doubles matches, each with a different partner. 
 
At the conclusion of play results were as follows:-
 
Gentlemen
 
Champion - Stephen Leach
Runner-up - Rogan McKenzie
 
Ladies 
 
Joint Champions - Ali Deeny and Fiona Gouk
Runner-up - Catherine Graham
 
Teas and cakes were enjoyed by all players afterwards.
 
 
 

Spring 2024 Open Day

HBTC hosted a successful open day on Saturday 27 April, with a healthy number of prospective new members enjoying a fun afternoon of tennis in the sun.
 
After a couple of hours of enjoyable doubles play, committee member Jonny McWhinney presented some well-deserved prizes to a number of the guest players.
 
It was great to see many subsequently join (or re-join) the club and now enjoy the regular Saturday and Wednesday club play sessions.
 
 
 

Robin and Rosemary Leaving Tea

Following Tennis, a celebratory tea was held for Rosemary and Robin, who have been key drivers of the success and growth of Helen's Bay Tennis Club over many years, who are leaving the area.

Rosemary and Robin would like to pass on their thanks for the beautiful engraved vase, the card and the excellent homemade tea by the members. A message from Rosemary and Robin: 'Helen’s Bay Tennis Club has been a much enjoyed part of our lives and we are going to miss it and the lovely friendly members very much and we wish everyone all the best for the future.’

Everyone at the club passes on their best wishes for the future in their new home and thanks them for all the hard work and dedication they have put into the club, at both a junior and senior level, and the local community.

End of August Round Robin

A fun round robin club tournament was held in early August. Andrew Dobbs emerged the worthy winner. Congratulations Andrew!
