A Great Start for HBTC Junior Teams
Summer 2022
This was the first time we had been able to enter junior teams into the Belfast and District Teams for 2 years and it was great to have 2 boys and 2 girls teams. The great majority had not played league matches before but initial nerves were soon banished as they gained in confidence and enjoyed the team aspect of the matches which were very competitive and fun.
The girls teams were very competitive especially as they were hampered by injuries and the exam schedule to some extent. The U18s tied 6th and the U14s came a very good 4th in their divisions.

At last it begins!
Rogan and Stephen were the last HBTC trophy winners of 2021. Who will be the first in 2022?
Our season starts on Saturday 26 March with a club tournament. There will be an Open Afternoon for adults on Saturday 9 April, 2-4pm, for anyone wanting to come a meet and have a game. The Junior Leagues are opening up again and for anyone interested in these contact Rosemary via email at

The 2021 Tennis Ireland Seniors Interprovincial Championships, Limerick
Helen’s Bay Tennis Club member Rosemary Masefield was part of the Ulster Senior Interprovincial team which played in Limerick over the weekend of 13/14 November. Playing for the ladies 60+ Rosemary and her doubles partner, Kathryn Fleming from the Boat Club, enjoyed close and competitive matches winning v Connacht.
A few weeks earlier Rosemary had also played in the Super Seniors Interprovincial Championships in Belfast in the Ladies 65+ category but this time she and her partner, Alison Nesbitt from Bangor Tennis Club, were asked to play for Connacht who were short of players. After a year of not many competitive matches all players greatly enjoyed the opportunity and camaraderie afforded by the championships.
